Jamie Oliver’s pizza recipe with weird but ‘game-changing’ ingredient

Jamie Oliver's pizza recipe with weird but 'game-changing' ingredient

Jamie Oliver has left fans flabbergasted after he suggested a weird ingredient to a pizza recipe.

The celebrity chef used grapes as a topping on pizza, which he dubbed a ‘secret ingredient’.

The 49-year-old chef suggested the idea on an episode of his YouTube show "Keep Cooking Family Favourites".

His pizza recipe included sausage, olive oil, red onion, pine nuts, dried tomato pesto, and grapes.

While explaining the process, he said: “Just a handful is all you need. Once you try it, the sweetness, the saltiness, the whole kind of thing, is beautiful.”

Mr Oliver also suggested adding rosemary with grapes and he said that they “are a match made in heaven”.

To add the final touches to the pizza, he added some mozzarella and wrapped it up.

He concluded: “That combination is a game changer.”

However, his idea was not accepted by many social media users who raised their doubts about adding grapes to the pizza.

One person commented: “The only grapes that should go with pizza are in red wine. To the 'Nah' crowd… you never enjoyed a platter with cheese, baguette, and… grapes?"

Another said: "Lose your key to the City of Napoli with that. Right up there with pineapple.”

The strange recipe comes as celebrity TV chef Nigella Lawson provoked outrage after sharing a recipe for a 'crustless pizza,' which she dubbed her "Recipe of the day,” reports Mirror Online.

She wrote in the post: “As I write in the recipe intro, I wouldn't want to go bandying around the name of this recipe in Naples, but this is what I call it.

“If it helps, think of it as a cheese toastie, only without the bread! I made this so often when my children were young."

The recipe consists of a dough-like batter mixed with cheese that is cooked in a circular pan to prevent any crust from forming. She then tops the bread with cheese and chorizo, and recommends serving alongside a 'green or tomato salad'.
