When we’re on a snack hunt, we’re all about hitting up our local Costco. And not just because we can buy everything in bulk—although that helps, too. Costco has an endless variety of snack options, from our favorite salsa to buttery baked goods, crunchy pretzel pita chips, bite-sized Dubai chocolates, and so much more.
Just when we thought we had seen (and tasted) everything from Costco’s snack selection, the members-only warehouse brought in another brand-new offering, and it's too darn cute to pass up.
Costco’s Limited-Edition Panda Buns
Bao lovers, listen up! Anyone who appreciates Chinese cuisine and a perfectly steamed bao will want to hit up Costco's freezer aisles. The wholesale retailer is now selling Panda Buns that feature the typical soft and fluffy dough found in Chinese baos, filled with creamy custard for just the right amount of sweetness in each bite.
Since these baos are fully cooked, all you have to do is reheat them in the microwave for a couple of minutes or steam them on the stovetop for 13 minutes to enjoy.
One Costco shopper posted on Instagram about the buns after seeing them in stores, adding, “they did not disappoint!” According to another fan, these are not only cute but “as good as some of the best dim sum restaurants!”
There was also plenty of chatter over on the Costco subreddit, too. Those who have tried these buns say they are “super soft and fluffy” with great flavor. Another person added, "I thought they were really tasty even if, yes, I agree [there's] not enough filling, but [it's] still very sweet! If we had space in our freezer, [I would] immediately buy [them] next time!"
These Panda Buns have been spotted at various Costco stores across the country, although not all are currently carrying them. If your local Costco doesn't have them, don’t panic just yet—we're hoping that more regions will be seeing these adorable treats in their freezer aisles soon.
